How to Login to "Renew My Materials"

The "Login to... Renew My Materials" link is located in a box in the center of the banner at the top of every JOLIS Library Catalog screen.

At the login page, enter your World Bank UPI number or your IMF Staff ID, enter it again to confirm, and click "Login".

You may either renew only selected titles, or renew all of your materials at one time. To renew only selected title, click in the box to the left of those titles and then click "Renew Selected Items". To renew all of your materials, click on the radio button for "Renew all" then click on "Renew Selected Items."

The catalog will let you know if your items were renewed (some materials may not permit renewal) and will tell you the new due date.

How to Login to "Review My Account"

The "Login to... Review My Account" link is located in a box in the center of the banner at the top of every JOLIS Library Catalog screen.

At the login page, enter your World Bank UPI number or your IMF Staff ID, enter it again to confirm, and click "Login".

"Review My Account" allows you to:

  • View the list of materials you have on loan
  • See the dates those materials are due
  • See the list and status of materials that are on hold for you
  • Cancel holds for materials that you no longer need
  • Suspend holds for materials that you still need, but will not be able to receive for a specified length of time because you will be out of the office.

How to Search JOLIS Library Catalog

Type your search terms on the search form.

You may scroll down to limit your search by library, format type, publication year, etc.

Click the "Search" button, or press Enter.

The search results may be a single catalog record or a list of catalog records.

How to Limit Search to Materials Available Online

In the "Advanced Search" form, click on the check box labeled "Limit search to online materials only" located at the top of the search form.

Fill in search form and click "Search" button or press Enter.

Only items available in full-text electronically will be displayed.

Click the "Details" button and then click on the link(s) labeled "Electronic Access" to retrieve the full-text.

How to Create "Tell Me" Alerts

To use this feature you must be logged in to "Review My Account".

As you search for material and click on Details to view a single catalog record, you will see two choices on the right of the screen:

    Tell Me When New Materials by This Author are Available; and

    Tell Me When New Materials on These topics are Available

If you would like future notices on either, click on the appropriate box. You will receive a message telling you that your request has been processed.

You will start to receive a weekly e-mail informing you when new items are added to the collection! Alerts are created based on the first author or the first subject of a catalog record. All alerts automatically expire after 6 months.

How to Request Items in the JOLIS Catalog

As you search for material and click on Details to view a single catalog record, you will see a "Request this item" button below the gray bar at the top of the screen.

If the item is available it will be sent to you immediately.

If all of the copies are checked out, library staff will place a "hold" to reserve a copy of the item and send it to you when it becomes available.

How to Print/E-mail Your JOLIS Search Results

When you are viewing a search results list, use the "Add to List" button that appears to the left of each title. You can also use the "Click to add ALL TITLES on this page to List" to mark all items on the current page.

When you are viewing a single title, click on the "Add to List" button that appears on the right side of the screen.

When you have finished adding items to your List, click on the "Print/Email List" link that appears below the gray bar at the top of the screen.

On the next screen you can enter your complete email address and click "Email List" to send the List, or click on "Print List" to see a printer friendly display of your selected records.

Use the check boxes and buttons to the left of this screen to refine your list by removing particular titles from your list

How to Return Items to the Library

Items may be returned either in person or by interoffice mail to the Network Library from which they were borrowed.

The holding library for each item can be identified by the letter code on the barcode label affixed to each item, e.g. JL for Joint Library.

See the list of libraries for names, acronyms, and locations of the libraries.

Note: Items borrowed from libraries outside the Network, via Interlibrary Loan service, must be returned in person to the Joint Library by the due date indicated unless other arrangements have been made in advance of the due date.

If you cannot determine which library to return an item to, please return it to the Joint Library at IMF HQ C-700 Circulation.

How to Cancel a Hold

Log into your Account using the "Login to... Review My Account" link located in a box in the center of the banner at the top of every JOLIS Library Catalog screen.

Once you are logged in, click on the "Hold" tab to see options for cancelling or suspending your holds.

How to Request an Item Not Owned by Bank or Fund Libraries (Interlibrary Loan)

Use the Ask! a Librarian form.

Fill it out and check the box to indicate that it is a request for interlibrary loan.

How to Request Research or Reference Assistance

Ask! a Librarian. You can reach us by e-mail, by phone, or in person.

How to Access Library Databases from Home or While Traveling

Many of the JOLIS Catalog records are linked to full-text electronic resources which are only available to World Bank Group and IMF staff under licensing agreements. Staff may access these resources from any Bank or IMF building by clicking the links provided in the records.

To access from home, Country Offices, Resident Missions or from IMF Technical Assistance Centers follow the remote access instructions for World Bank staff or for Fund staff.

How to Suggest a Book for Library Purchase

Submit the Suggest a Book or Journal form. Include as much information as possible.

How to See "More Like This" and "More by This Author"

Next to the Details of each catalog record are two boxes labeled "More by This Author" and "More Like This". Clicking them will display books by any of the authors or subjects listed in the record you are viewing. This is a quick way to find similar items.

How to See What Others Around the Bank and Fund are Reading

In the "People are Reading" boxes (right side of JOLIS Catalog search screen) you can view a short listing of popular titles and articles. Click "More" to view a complete listing of what others are reading. Click on any of the available titles to get more information on that title.

How to Get Help Using JOLIS or Other Library Resources

How to Access Other Databases

The Library Network brings approximately 150 other databases to your desktop. To access these databases click on "Databases" located on the left toolbar. The databases are listed by title and by subject.
